Access to healthcare should not depend on distance, income, or luck. In many areas around Kahama, families delay treatment because they cannot afford it. This puts them at risk of health problems that could be avoided with timely care. That is why Martus Foundation helps families get Community Health Fund (CHF) insurance cards. This is a government program created with the World Bank.
One CHF card covers a whole household for 12 months. It lets families visit registered hospitals and health centers in their area without extra cost. The card costs about €11 per year (around 30,000 TZS), depending on the number of health facilities nearby. With this small payment, families get access to doctor visits, treatment, essential medicine, and referrals.
Through the Insurance Card Project, we find vulnerable families, help them register, and make sure they get their card. Thanks to donors and local leaders, 1,944 families now have the peace of mind that they can get care when they need it most. Together, we can help more families. Will you join us?
